How To Do A BMX X UP
What is the x up?
The X UP is a bmx trick where you turn your handlebars 180 degrees around so your arms are crossed. It sounds simple, but there are a few things to keep in mind when learning the trick. We shot this video with a Pro NextStep Lander and our regular ramp (DIY plans here).
Step 1: STRAIGHTEN YOUR LEGS
Jump up the ramp and straighten your legs to get used to this feeling. Getting comfortable with keeping your legs straight will make the next step actually turning the bars a lot easier.
Step 2: Start Turning Your Bars
Start getting comfortable turning the bars in the air — whether thats 90 degrees, 45 degrees or even 25 degrees.
Tip: Most important thing is to keep your legs straight! The clearance is important so your handlebars don’t bang your knees while the bars turn 180 degrees and back.
Step 3: Take It To 180 Degrees
When you are comfortable jumping , straightening your legs and turning the bars, now it’s time to try and turn them 180 degrees.
Congratulations, you have learned how to X-UP!
